Expert’s Review of the Alamo Zebra Barrel Racing Saddle

Watch an expert’s review of the Alamo Zebra Barrel Racing Saddle.

For more info about the Alamo Zebra Barrel Racing Saddle, click HERE.

If you’re looking for a barrel or pleasure saddle that won’t be forgotten, here you go. It’s the Alamo 1234 Zebra Barrel Racer Saddle. Now I don’t think we’ve ever had an animal print saddle in the shop before. So when we saw this one, we snatched it up right away.

Alamo makes great quality saddles and they’re also known for their original designs that maintain a classic Western look. They’re flashy but they don’t go out of style, which is a good thing because this saddle is going to be around for a long time. It’s built on a solid fiberglass-covered wood tree made by Hadlock and Fox.

Now let’s take a closer look at some of the features of this saddle. The signature area of this saddle is of course the zebra seat. This one has a suede inlay to give you a little more grip in the seat. Check out the silver-laced black rawhide cantle on the back that continues the zebra theme. This saddle has gorgeous hand-tooled floral tooling on the skirts, pommel, cantle and off billet.

The saddle is only 24 inches long so even if your horse is short-backed, it should be a great fit. It has got rough-out seat jockey and fenders to keep you in place with zebra hobble straps that continue the zebra theme. The buckles for adjusting the stirrup leathers are leather-covered making it easy on your hands.

The zebra theme of the saddle is continued on the conchos, the flank strap plate and the horn cap. The saddle includes an inch and a half wide Latigo tie strap as well as the off billet and a 17-strand cinch so you’re ready to ride.

If you want some matching tack, check out Alamo’s matching zebra tack. It has the headstall with the zebra print scalloped browband outlined with flashy silver spots and jewels. You’ve got the same thing on the adjustable end pieces and the matching breast collar with the scallop design, zebra print and outlined with silver spots and jewels.

This tack is really going to look great on your horse with this saddle and we’re offering them at a special reduced price of $199 for both pieces when you buy the saddle.

Review of Arbuckle Wade Ranch Saddle

Here’s an expert’s review of the Arbuckle Wade Ranch Saddle from the Billy Cook Saddlery.

You can get more information about the Arbuckle Wade Ranch saddle by clicking HERE.

Today we’re looking at the Billy Cook Model 10-2182. It’s called the Arbuckle Wade Ranch Saddle. Now if you’ve never tried a Billy Cook, you might be wondering, “What makes this saddle so popular out of the hundreds of brand name saddles we sell here every year?” and the most obvious reason is that Billy Cook is just an extremely talented craftsman. We recommend all the Billy Cook models but there’s something very classical and elegant about the styling of his ranch saddles.

This Arbuckle Wade is the kind of saddle that you buy once in a lifetime and then you pass it on to your grandchildren. They really do last that long.

Let’s take a closer look at several of the features of this saddle so you can see what I mean. This saddle is just beautiful. It has got your typical split ranch seat which is really pretty comfortable. I’ve sat on this saddle and I can imagine sitting in it all day long which is exactly what you want in a ranch saddle.

Ok, take note of the rigging. This saddle has flat plate rigging with brass hardware.  The stirrup is a rawhide pepper bell shape. Notice the twist of the stirrup.  Billy Cook is one of the few saddle manufacturers that ships their fenders pre-twisted so you don’t have to worry about that when you get your new saddle.

This saddle has also got a beautifully-wrapped four-inch horn.  Billy Cook uses the highest quality leather to make his saddles. This one is chestnut in color with waffle border tooling.

It also comes with a 27-strand mohair cinch and a matching tool flank strap. So if you’ve got a good saddle pad already, you will be ready to ride.

If you’re looking for a ranch saddle, I guess I don’t need to recommend this one. It just recommended itself, right?

Fabtron Lady Flex Tree Trail Saddle – A Review

Watch this expert’s review of the Fabtron Lady Flex Tree Trail Saddle.

For more information about the Fabtron Lady Flex Tree Trail Saddle, click HERE.

Let me introduce the Lady Trail Flex Saddle by Fabtron. Not only is this saddle our number one selling saddle but it has held that position for over three years.

We get positive feedback from our customers all the time on this saddle. Let’s take a few minutes to go over some of the reasons that make this saddle so popular.

First of all, the price is very reasonable, making it affordable for almost anyone. Now that doesn’t mean it’s cheaply made and as you know, we pride ourselves in carrying only the best quality brands of saddles made in the USA. Fabtron in Maryville, Tennessee  makes quality saddles.

Fabtron uses high quality Cordura for the skirts and fenders. This helps keep the cost down but it also does something else. It makes the saddle very lightweight which is another reason it’s so popular. This saddle only weighs about 21 pounds which is great for someone who needs a lighter saddle. It’s also about 24 inches long which makes it popular for riders with short-backed horses needing a shorter saddle.

Another factor that makes this saddle so popular is its versatility. It comes in a 15, 16 or 17-inch seat size. So it fits a wide variety of riders. You can also get the saddle with U-sized Cordura fenders so it’s great for young riders or those with shorter legs.

In addition, these Cordura fenders are great for riders with knee problems. Because they’re so flexible, they put less pressure on your knees. The seat is another attractive feature of this saddle. It’s a padded suede seat that’s very comfortable for men and women.

You might be wondering why this saddle is called a Lady Trail. The reason is that the seat has a narrow twist that most women find very comfortable for their hips. Also the high cantle gives good back support.

Now let me say to the men out there that there are a lot of men who enjoy this saddle also. I always tell our male customers that the word “lady” isn’t found anywhere on this saddle so you don’t have to worry about that. As you know, it’s our goal to help our customers find saddles that fit them as well as their horse and fit for the horse is another feature that makes this saddle so popular.

It’s built on a Ralide flex tree which you can see if you look underneath the saddle.

The Ralide flex tree used in the Lady Trail saddle is a one-piece, injection-molded tree. That means that the material is injected into a mold that has this shape. Now one of the benefits of a Ralide tree is the dimensional consistency. They’re the same every time and this helps saddle manufacturers keep their costs down, labor and material cost. As they go to assemble the saddle and put the leather on, it’s going to fit right every time.

It can also help you as you’re shopping for a saddle. I know I get calls from a lot of customers who will tell me, “I tried on my friend’s saddle and it fit great and I want one just like it.” Well, with a Ralide tree, you can be confident that the tree in your saddle is going to be just like the tree in your friend’s saddle that you tried on.

Another advantage to the Ralide tree is it’s lightweight. This is only about 10 pounds which is why the saddle can be so lightweight and yet they’re very durable. This tree is made out of material that doesn’t warp and because it’s one piece, there aren’t any joints that can work loose like in the pommel or the cantle.

Other quality components of this saddle are the metal Blevins style buckles for adjusting the stirrups as well as a very good quality synthetic fleece. The stirrups on this saddle are also from Ralide and are wrapped with a leather tread. This saddle is full double-rigged and comes with a girth.

It also comes with a trail-riding package which includes a leather breast collar, brow band headstall and split reins so if you already have a saddle pad, you’ve got everything you need to ride.

Billy Cook Pro Reining Saddle Review

Watch this video of Billy Cook’s Pro Reining Saddle:

Click HERE for more info about the Billy Cook Pro Reining Saddle.

The Billy Cook Pro Reining Saddle Model Number 6000 has got beautiful styling and that classic reining design. It’s very elegant and yet not over the top.

Well, let’s take a closer look at some of the features of this saddle and I will start by just saying this is built on the classic reining tree. It’s a rawhide-covered wood tree so it’s definitely going to be able to stand up to all the strains of reining.  It has got a low reiner horn and a short cantle, which gives you more room to maneuver in this very comfortable padded seat.

Take note of the cut of the skirt. It is called a butterfly skirt because of its shape and for you non-reiners out there, the reason it’s cut like this is to remove some of the bulk under the rider’s leg and give them better contact with the horse.

It has also got full double rigging with stainless steel hardware. The fenders come pre-twisted straight from Billy Cook so you won’t have to do that yourself. I think the most beautiful thing about this saddle is the intricate hand stamping and tooling that’s a unique design.  Like all Billy Cook saddles, a mohair cinch is included.

Well, that’s the Billy Cook Pro Reiner 6000, a saddle worthy of displaying your best reining work in the ring and it comes in at number eight on our list of top best selling saddles.

Review of Alamo Flex Tree Western Saddle Wide Tree 1060

Here is a video review of the Alamo Flex Tree Western Saddle Wide Tree. I hope this helps you in deciding which is the right horse saddle for you.

Click HERE to check out the  Alamo Flex Tree Western Saddle Wide Tree  further.

Let’s start by talking about the part of the saddle that you don’t see and that’s the tree. At the heart of this saddle is a flex tree made by Hadlock and Fox. They’re a company out of Texas that has been making quality saddles for over 50 years.

Now a lot of you probably already know that a flex tree can help the saddle fit your horse better as well as you have more freedom of movement.

A lot of our customers have come to prefer the flex saddle saying it keeps the horse comfortable longer.

Well, let’s take a closer look at this saddle. The color of this leather is what Alamo calls caramel toast which is a rich, medium brown. This is top quality skirting leather that Alamo gets from Tennessee.

The tooling pattern is called Greek border. Notice how even the pattern and the depth of tooling is. You only get this from skilled craftsmen who know how to hand-tool and all of Alamo’s saddles are tooled by hand.

The seat is padded and very comfortable with soft, smooth leather. Notice how even the stitching is. There aren’t any zigzags here. This is one area that we really watch when we’re looking for a quality saddle manufacturer.

There are plenty of saddle strings here to attach your gear. A lot of you are going to appreciate the cutout skirt which gives you closer contact with your horse. The rigging on this saddle is stainless steel and it’s in the 7/8 position which is what most everyone is looking for.

Behind the fenders here, you see some Blevins style buckles for adjusting the fenders and also the rawhide leather-laced bell stirrups with the leather in the tread, real nice stirrups. The tie strap on this saddle is Latigo leather and you already saw the tooled off billet.

Now most saddles today come with nylon tie straps and off billets and there’s nothing wrong with nylon but I think when you put leader straps on a saddle, it says something about your quality and your desire to use the best materials rather than cut cost.

They also put on some really beautiful and unique-looking conchos on this saddle. Also included with the saddle is a 17-strand cinch. So if you have a pad, you’re ready to ride.

So there you have it. It’s the Alamo Caramel Toast Greek Border Tooled Trail Saddle model number 1060 Flex.
